Hi people, looking at a honda XR 125 for sale from a dealer, £900, 2003, 30,000 miles, new battery, sprockets, serviced and new M.O.T....... What do you think, worth it??

i think you could get a newer xt125 fas the same money
almost the same bike only yamaha

Mileage quite high, but if it's been serviced regularly then it will probably be fine. Thumbs Up

I paid £995 for my 2003 XR with full service history all the paperwork both keys etc and 4300 miles.

They run on abuse anyway so the engine is virtually bulletproof since it's from the CG125. Seeing that it's from a dealer, then 900 is worth it. I wouldn't mind getting another one. Mileage shouldn't be an issue. There was a recall on it though for electrical/ignition issues.

I keep seeing this quoted on here, but thought it came from the CB125, as it has a cam chain - can anyone cite a reference?

I'm fairly sure it was a pushrod OHV on the bike when I was looking at the cylinder stampings.

Don't recall seeing a cam chain when adjusting the valves on my XR. From the outside, the engine's identical in appearence to the last of the CGs.

Loved mine, couldn't fault it for what it was.

I bought my XR with 13k on it, sold it with over 20 for that sort of money. It never missed a beat in all the time I had it, such a simple engine, even if anything does go wrong it won't cost much to fix!
