Hey guys,
I'm a big bit stuck with my YZ450F 07.

I was out riding yesterday doing a bit of green laning, and my bike decided to die on me, I kicked it over a good few times (and i mean a good few times, i was pooped by the time i got it running) and it only ticked over for about 20 seconds before it died again. Managed to get it started a second time and only got 20 yards before it died. And even after bumping it with a tow it wouldn't start after that. I bought a new plug and HT pack, all good, but no spark at all, then i checked all the connections to it and couldn't find any issues, until i traced all the way back to the stator, where i found that no connection from any of the coils were generating any electricity. I took the casing off and everything looks sound, and the flywheel is turning when it's being kicked, and now i'm just stuck as to where to look next.

Any help would be massively appreciated, feeling a little lost without it, haa.

I'm not sure if the stator is even stock as it's been modified for load use with lights and a horn etc.

Thanks Smile

It all looks pretty clean except the oil looking like it could do with a change :/
Is there a specific way of checking the coils? Using a megger to check to earth of a continuity check?

Maybe just made a little headway,
found that the separate yellow wire coming from one of the coils is shorting to earth somewhere, i can't see anything so i'd guess that the coil has burnt out.
The other coil pair seems fine, but from what i can gather this yellow wire is actually the live wire?

I'm not used to electrical work on bikes, and have no diagrams to work from so this is only what i can trace/work out. can anyone confirm any of this?

Thanks
