Hi guys,

I'm looking at doing a mad weekender which involves Deadmau5 on the 11th June in Victoria Park London, I'll be looking to stay on the saturday night before heading back north, can anyone recommend somewhere to stay which won't cost the earth? Also, which is the best station to travel to by train? London is like another country to me and Google is no help!

Cheers Cockerknees! Smile

Victoria Park is in Hackney.

Joe, as I remember, you're yorkshire rite? In which case, take the train to Kings Cross. That's pretty much islington.

East end of london is relatively cheap to stay in by comparison

Have a look at that. Stratford is very close to hackney. You can get to the venue by bus or overground (hackney Wick or Homerton) or on the central line tube at Bethnal Green - which is just one stop up from stratford.

If you need help getting to the destination, then PM me.

But my recommendation IS to stay in the Olympic region because it's close, there's plenty of shops around if you want to rock up on booze... and if you're lucky, you might be able to score some gear in the area!

If you fail at getting a hotel then I have a spare room, but I'm down in Crystal Palace. I know there's a night bus from Euston station to a stop about a 5 minute walk from me, takes 30-40 mins.

There are loads of hotels the other end of Hackney Road that are reasonable and within walking distance while pissed up, I know I've done the walk enough times back to mine after getting slaughtered. Also loads of bars and clubs around the Shoreditch area as well if you really want to go all out. Also if you walked back to Bethnal Grn tube you would be half way back to Shoreditch anyway

If you go the Stratford route the only way back short of the tube to the hotel would be to get a cab as it's unlikely you would find your way in the dark, I would struggle and I've spent my whole life in the area unless I walked down the Eastway.

Part of Victoria Park must be in Hackney, since I live in Hackney Wick and Victoria Park is 5 mins walk from me. It could be part of another borough too, or one of those borderline parts. Of course it is a huge park, and I am sure the event is closer to The Mile end side.

Mile end tube station is about 10 mins walk from one side.

Hackney wick overground is about 10 mins from one side too, but I'll say events are more to the Mile end side:

Accomadation can be had for cheap, try Finsbury park road for bed and breakfast, and get he tube to Mile end.

Victoria Park is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Hackney borders onto the park on it's northern fenceline and a small part of it's eastern fenceline.

I'm currently working on Cadogan Terrace down the eastern side of the park. It's very narrow, lots of cars meeting each other and refusing to reverse.

One bloke shouted to some blokes threatening to kick his headlights in that he was going to call the police.

They replied that they 'was from Hackney innit, so aint scared of no plissmen'.....
