I've just read on teletext, that a 18 year old moped rider called Jordan Moore has been killed on the 8th November, near Hinkley, following an accident with 2 lorries.

Whilst I hope to God it isn't the forum member, does anyone know anything?

Wow.

Our Jordan Moore is 17 and lives in Burbage.

Dead Jordan is 18 and lived 4 miles up the road in Barwell.

Our Jordan rides a CBR125 though and was posting today. Quite freaky though.

Roger,
Thanks for that, I feel sorry for the guy and his family who has been killed, but thank God it wasn't "our" forum member.

Hey guys, I've only just noticed this topic, I wasn't being ignorant Smile

As you now know, the guy that crashed wasn't me, but it was a real coincidence. According to the linked article, the crash even happened less than 4 miles up the A5 from the junction I always use and a mere two and a half hours after I've usually just come off it. Shocked I wasn't on it that day however due to my bike failing its MOT.

I've had a few friends check I wasn't dead, which I found really nice - however, selfish as this sounds, something like this really shows you who the people that care about you actually are.. and they're not who I thought they would be.

I didn't personally know the guy that died, but my best wishes are with his friends&family. RIP.

A serious question and not just a bit of trolling, what difference would it make if it was a forum member?

Because they are part of the community here at BCF, You get to know the people over time.

Even though I'm new here it is still nice to know nothing has happened to them.

What's the weather like on Vulcan this time of year? Would it make a logical destination for a winter holiday?

Very rarely do you get to know the people. Their on-line persona, yes, the 'real' person? No, not unless you regularly meet up with them. I doubt the death of even those that I have met would have any consequence other than a general "shame, he/she was a nice bloke/woman" in some cases.

This may well be down to a lack of empathy. I've experienced several work colleagues dying over the last few years and other than attending the funeral of one guy that worked directly for me, I've not really felt anything other that a bit of pity for their family.

I feel that there is a fair amount of vicarious grief attached to many of these situations. Cynical I guess but that's the way I see it and it's certainly heavily promoted by the media.

Yes, I'm a card.

So, what's your story? Autism or sociopathy?

But it's still nice to know it wasn't, No matter if you know the person or not....

Sure as you said, if someone did die, I wouldn't be all emotional about it, it's just a shame it was someone who in some ways is indirectly connected to you through the community.

Reading their posts you learn what kind of person they are, if you agree with most of what they say, you'll befriend them when replying to posts, Right?
After you get to know what sort of person they are, you've already decided if you like them or don't like them, which leads to you accepting them as a friend or not in some ways, or well that's how I see it any ways.

Thanks iMark, that's the sort I thing I was interested in.

Rogdedodge. Not sure, I've often wondered if I have something not switching correctly. It has served me well on many an occasion but sadly it means I have no friends. Probably explains why all my kids left home before their 17th birthday.

Thank you for the understanding response to my pissy post. I'm involved in a sleep deprivation exercise and it is certainly having some measurable effects. Hey Ho Skyrim we go.

It is also like the last post wins thread, everyone can post pictures of mangled corpses however it wont make anyone shed a tear. Post a picture of someone you know and you will.

The whole reason is because you don't cry over the person but the life they lived and the memories they left behind.
