Im looking at buying an old nsr125f 1987 its very clean runs well has milage under 4000 miles (genuine) Paperwork and parts receipts - how much is a sensible offer? I cannot seem to find a basemark amount that these bikes are sold for.

If anyone knows someone whos sold or bought one and can help me it would be much appreciated.

You mean an NS125f? (nsr is a different bike)

Rough but road worthy ones go for around £300-400. But even a low mileage tidy one won't be worth much. Try £400-500 if it is in excellent condition and has origional tidy fairings and exhaust.

If it's a real unmolested one it could be worth a couple of hundred more but obviously it's best to go in with a low offer. It is 24 years old and not a desirable classic though as my first bike i do have a soft spot for them.

Is it an NS125F - the nose-faired one before the NS125R that had the full fairing?

AFAIK the NSR125F wasn't imported until later on to the UK. I think post 87, it went to the NS125R for a while.

If the mileage is genuine, and it doesn't need any work at all (think new chain/tyres/brakes/fork seals etc) then I would say £600ish would be good.

The seller might find a collector that is willing to pay more if it is indeed a minter, but on the open market I wouldn't expect it to go for much more, as they tended to be restricted quite heavily in both parts of the exhaust (needing a Micron or Allspeed to derestrict it)

This meant that the pocketrocket boys generally overlooked it in favour of the RD/RG/TZR which were far easier to derestrict.

They are nicer than any of those though, as they are physically bigger - my friend had one when we were 17, and it was felt a lot bigger than my RD. And was a sh1t load more reliable too - even with a micron on it.
