This may sound strange but im hoping to whack a small diesel generator engine into a cg 125. I've found a few local shops that sell 1L for as low as £1. I know that the price in large supermarkets of vegetable oil has risen greatly supposedly due to people doing to same. But anywho, is it "Illegal" to use as fuel?

It's legal to use.

You're allowed to produce up to 2,500 litres of fuel per year without having to pay any fuel duty. Buying litre bottles of veggy oil and using that as a fuel counts as producing fuel.

Keep your reciepts, if you use less than 2500 Litres a year you pay no duty, if you use more then the government want duty from you...

Damn beaten to it...

Im looking into getting a 306 D-turbo for this, if it has the bosch pump it will take it, the lucas pump will shit itself because its a piece of crap Thumbs Up

Just make sure you change your oil a lot, like at least twice as often as normal, if not more. I have seen, first hand, the results of veggie oil getting into engine oil. Long story short.... oil = jelly, engine = scrap.

Do you have to treat the veg oil in anyway to use it as fuel? Like thinning it down etc?

Oh and OP, go to a large wholesale place and buy the oil in large quantites, would be far cheaper

You can just use Diesel to thin it down.

Your car will smell like a chippie if you run it on this.

Fry some bacon and sausages in it? Not to make it run any better, just to bait vegetards with the smell.

People use veggy oil mixed with diesel at whatever ratio they find works best for them. You don't have to treat the veggy oil with anything, you can just pour the 1 litre bottles straight into your fuel tank in the car park of lidl. A ratio of 50:50 is a good place to start. Smile

No. You only have to worry about adding things if you're making biodiesel. Suggesting that people add ethanol or some alcohol derived product lo lower the flash point is a really, really bad idea!!

sweet cheers for the info, I ask as we used to get a guy come into my old mans pub. We used to give him the old chip frying oil, he used to filter it etc to get rid of the shit then chuck it into his pickup.

Think he used to do the rounds of all the local pubs so was probably running his truck free most of the time!

To be a bit more efficient, you could always turn it into bio-diesel.

https://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html

Doesn't seem to hard, but then I did used to work in a lab making stuff for cloned plants to grow in, this seems easier :o
