Can someone post the "not this shit again" please?

This conversation spread across a multitude of forums is fucking boring. The legal requirement is a crash helmet, everything else is personal preference. Nipping around town doing speeds not too dissimilar to a push bike I don't see the problem (although I would personally always wear gloves).

If you're competent enough to pass a bike test, you should have enough about you to know the risks and judge them on your own scale accordingly. End of rant Very Happy

air conditioning. Thumbs Up funny watching all the one piece wearing plastic fantastic brigade sweating away whilst im nice and comfortable too Laughing

Cheers

p.s yes I have crashed before and know how much it hurts, ive had gravel rash too, i just choose not to wear clothing that makes me concentrate more on how hot I am than concentrate on the road.

Go to south east asia and you'll see this is the norm:

https://2.bp.blogspot.com/_CxhUyuKNw7k/Se6EwJfhgmI/AAAAAAAAAHI/6DE2uyD2xLQ/s400/Children-Riding-on-a-Motor-Scooter-Phnom-Penh-Cambodia-Indochina-Southeast-Asia-Photographic-Print-C13047685.jpeg

At least half the people on the roads are on scooters, yet they all seem to still be alive. Health and safety culture comes from being outraged by other people taking risks for themselves. Personally i think we are all accountable for our own actions and decisions. Truth is shorts & T-shirt at 30mph on a ped is a fuck load safer than all-the-gear-no-idea on a 180mph superbike. The number of people riding without safety equipment is dwalfed by the number of middle aged men with the latest superbike that they've bought special parts for to make it go faster, before they've ever really ridden it.
I was talking to a bloke in the pub last night who had just bought a new BMW because it was the fastest. He'd only ever ridden a 500 on a DAS 2 years ago, yet he's bothered about having a bike that does 190 instead of 187 or whatever.

As has been said, it's personal choice Tbh. As long as you have a helmet you're fulfilling your legal requirement.
Personally I always wear either a leather or textile jacket and gloves, but with those I often just wear normal jeans (I only own 2 pairs of kevlar jeans and my leather trousers are too hot to wear in summer, too cold in winter)
My boots, like Virus' are usually combat boots, though I also have a pair of those cruiser type boots they sold in the Lidl motorbike sale this year Razz Surprisingly comfy they are too!

Anyway, to the point, why care what someone is wearing? It's not like their roadrash will hurt YOU is it? I can understand if it's a family member or a friend perhaps, but some random stranger?

When in hospital receiving treatment, possibly very long term is that the NHS has to pay for it, so we all pay for that someones stupidity.

That argument is completely invalid. If it is valid, then it becomes an argument against all motorcycles, against smoking, against drinking, against sunday league football, horseriding, cycling... heck even red meat.

The NHS MUST NOT be used as a stick to beat the public with. Under any circumstances. I'd rather pay medical insurance than have things banned because "It might cost the NHS money". It is a matter of principle.

If you read it carefully you see it wasnt really just Wink the shorts, except maybe a fashion crime, more so the trailing centre stand "combined" with the knee exposure!

Doesn't riding with a centre stand trailing kind of cause a lot of sparks?....
