Wireless Keyboard and Mouse?

Hi guys.

I was wondering if any of you would recommend wireless keyboards and mice?

I have had them in the past, but ended up using the wireless keyboard with a plug in mouse as the batteries for the mouse would die too quickly and cost too much money. The keyboard was fine though.

I am not interested in any function buttons on the keyboard. I have them on my current keyboard but never use them enough or remember they are there. I just want a plain, comfy wireless keyboard.

As for the mouse, I would like two buttons and a scroll wheel.

Would you recommend rechargable keyboards and mice or should I just stay away from them?

Perhaps I should just get the wireless keyboard?

I am on a bit of a budget so I'm not looking for anything fancy. Really just want wireless so I can move the keyboard easily and use the deskspace underneath for uni work.

i can recommend you don't get the microsoft set,
i have it at the moment, the range is about 2 meters,
and the little pick up has to below the height of the keyboard and mouse in order for it to work,

We use both Logitech and Microsoft sets here and find them both good.

Qualitywise I'd go for the Microsoft ones. Not particularly cheap though.

I'm quite the opposite.

I had a logitech set that used to get interference. If you are getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, make sure that it's running a 2.4 ghz wireless receiver and not the 27mhz.

I wasn't too happy with the logitech set since the range was limited to a metre.

I have no issues with the range. I sit about 2 metres away from the receiver and basically just use the mouse on my sofa surface. It does the job brilliantly. I can go so far as playing FPS on it and doing photoshop jobs on the sofa.

Scroll works 2 planes. You can zoom side to side as well as up and down, so it's handy when you have your screen zoomed in and want to sidescroll. Ergonomically, it fits very nicely on your palms. Also has side buttons (one at your thumb and one at your pinkie/ring) for back and forward on the browser. Dead handy... Or if you play FPS, you can also map the buttons as well.

The keyboard has a very nice action to the keys. There is sufficient travel on the keys to make it comfortable when typing and reminds me of a laptop keyboard in terms of how low profile the keys are.

The shortcut keys are very useful. I always use the zoom, vol and media player controls on the keyboard all the time and saves me the hassle of trying to squint at a 32" LED tv from 8ft away!

In short, for 30 quid, you can't go wrong.

Stock up on AA rechargables and these things will go for about 3 months before needing a change.

It's a 2.4GHz, about 15 month battery life for the keyboard and 6 month for the mouse. It also has the lights to tell you when the batterys are dieing aswell. It has a 9.1 rating out of ten from reevoo too.

If it was for a few hours a week then wireless all the way, but for me, despite the wires getting in the way, i just got pissed off with wireless, even when i was using dur rechargable ...

When yha playing poker and or cnc, and the mouse and or keyboard start playing up, more annoying than wires ..

Don't buy cheap and cheerful, I've had like 3 sets now and decided enough is enough, bought a high end wired keyboard (lights up and everything ) and put up with the wires, and a mouse that is wireless but gives you two rechargeable battery packs (one that is charging whilst you use the other)... but cost a bomb.

So far (touch wood) had no problems with the mouse . And no more AAA batteries etc.
