I read recently that the older Vmax is subject to the oil-ring moving,and causing expensive and terminal noises to happen.
"AHA!" thought I-"Today is sunny,dry,and warm.
I'll take the max to bits instead of riding it"
I rang Ian who I bought it from to enquire whether he'd had the upgraded elbow fitted into the sump.
No answer.
Ok-I get down,drain oil,VERY gently ease out the 20y.o sump bolts.
Can't find anything amiss,no stains,no leaks,no discolouration.
So-I have my bike in bits,don't really know what I'm looking for,have rolled in the only dog turd in the whole garden,have split my thumb,and am sweating like a galley slave with an oar fetish in the only overalls I have,which are padded with insulation.
At THIS point,Ian rings back.
He had the upgrade done 2 years ago.

Still-I changed the oil and filter,plus plugs coz the new ones were glaring at me from the garage,and it now has a new sump gasket.
So-all ready to go out and play.

So how come I feel peeved about that dog turd rather than chuffed my bike's in fine form!?!
