I got quite a few things on my list, such as the bike sitting needing new pads/disc's, chain/sprockets, a good service and putting back together, got to wall paper the sitting room, fix a small drip in the kitchen, get the car serviced, organise the christening for little legs, the list goes on i think. But i work full time and have a 3 month old son so must of this keeps getting put on hold. How do people find the time to do all this and still have a bit time to relax after the days work? Thank god i have a week off in may! Might get some thing done then Thumbs Up

Hmm, you could always hire a small team of Eastern Europeans, then; they'd sort you out in no time. Bonus is they'd have enough MAs and PHDs between them to educate your son from elementary to degree level by the time they're done.

Skip the christening, your lad will almost certainly thank you for it in the end anyway.

Paint the walls or convince your lady that the fashionable thing to do atm is to have three painted walls and one wallpapered.

Change the oil on the car and skip the service or book it in to a garage near where your missus works and get her to take it in.

Don't feck around fixing the sink, just replace all of the plastic U bends etc, costs more but time saved a plenty. Either that or bodge it with some silicone and ignore it for a few more months.

THEN - sit in the garage (man cave) with your days of time saved and lovingly strip, clean, grease and reassemble the brakes, new seals if required along with new braided steel lines with colour matched hoses and banjos. Fit the new chain and sprockets that you spent hours on the internet choosing with your new top of the range Whale chain tool, fit the new Galfer wavy discs and HH sintered pads whilst relaxing with a few old CDs and a cold beer.

Bike time IS relaxing time, the trick is to get an old sofa for the garage Thumbs Up .

That puts things in a must better perspective! The Christening is booked though (not that i'm too fussed!).

Also i don't have a garage and we live on a mostly private estate with no garages for rent Sad Loving the settee in garage/CD/Beer idea though!

Also just been informed of a mobile tuner near me to service the car Thumbs Up

The trick is to not do anything with your spare time except slob about and work on the bike. Simples.

It's amazing how much basic chores and housework etc eat into your day.

The best thing I've done from a "saving time" point of view recently is spending a morning plumbing in a dishwasher. That's saved me half an hour of washing up each evening, or a full 7 days a year if you look at it that way.

Also I have a washer-dryer where you can set it to dry automatically after it washes. So I just put the washing on in the morning before I go to work and it just needs folding when I get home. Simples.

Get your shopping delivered rather than going out to the supermarket. There's an hour or two a week of trudging round the store you won't have to do.

It all adds up.

Yeah the day to day stuff really does add up such as sterlising bottles and making them up cooling them etc.

Some good tips there! I think it might actually be the dish washer that is leaking but haven't got round to checking fully.. Still saves time though!

I like the idea of the auto dry after washing! Was that expensive?

We some times get it delivered, just dont get asda to delivered as they usually are very late! Tesco usually seem pretty good though! Might have to get it done more often rather than the odd occasion.

We did go to asda on saturday and watched two guys really going at it over a child space. Sure that was going to come to blows but i didn't see how it got to that point Laughing heard the two trolley attends say "its been a while since we had a good car park punch up" Laughing

Shocked

We go once a week, which takes 30 minutes including journey time. Do you pick your vegetables yourself?

Delivery is about £4. I hate shopping, but I'd rather do it myself than pay £4 to recoup half an hour of my time and end up with a load of substitues instead of the stuff I ordered. If you live out in the sticks then fair enough, but I think delivery would be more than £4 then Laughing

Man up and tell the wife to fix the sink, do the painting and all the cleaning. I bet it's only her complaining about it anyway...

Then while she's calming down from being told what to do, go and work on the bike until she lets you back in the house.

When whatever girl I'm with starts nagging at me to do stuff, it's over.

Amazing how much free time you suddenly have.

Stop wasting time procrastinating about not having any time. If you add up all that time you sit around saying "oh I'm so busy, I don't have time to do this" you could probably get more done.

Turn off the internet. It's a time sponge.

Break the things down into smaller tasks, where possible. Wallpapering might take a day, but the bike things could be done in bits. Make a list. If there's a 'critical path' for a task (eg you can't fit c&s until you've ordered c&s) then work out the steps. If there are things which could be done in less than half an hour, don't keep listing them, just pick one and do it.

Be reasonable. If you want a weekend off then just have one. Nothing on your list sounds super vital. Don't have a 'oh, I'll do something this weekend' which ends up not happening, decide you're not doing it and then it isn't in the back of your mind. Equally, just pick a weekend and do the wallpapering. It won't be that bad.

I talk the talk. Confused
I still haven't finished painting the kitchen, haven't started tiling the kitchen, have a box of bits needing fitted to my bike, have a stack of paperwork needing doing... and that's before you get onto my work 'stuff to do' list. But I'm dead busy, honest. Yeah, dead busy procrastinating. Neutral

Neighbourhood of 500 quid... bought out of necessity really as I only had the one "laundry" slot in the kitchen. I hate it, but that's down to the actual machine, not the concept.

Spend all available spare time smoking weed and drinking beer - that way you won't care about the unfinished jobs and you have an 'excuse' for belting the wife if she persists with her nagging.

Works for me.

Thumbs Up
