I'm heading over to the Isle of Man at the end of May, sailing from Heysham. I'd really like to have something to smoke when I'm over on the island and just wondering about the complexities of getting it over there. Info is patchy about whether there will be sniffer dogs at the port, but we'll say that there are. Anyone ever taken any ganga on a ferry before, any experience? We're talking 3g - 5g at the most here.

Thumbs Up Karma

Is it really worth the risk?

My mate lives over there, and says they still use the sniffer dogs and it's not worth the risk as they'll chuck you straight in jail if they find any on you. Apparently drugs are a big problem over there so they're quite hot on it.

He says it's safer to get hold of it when you're over there than risk getting caught coming off the ferry.

Some people do bring weed with them but be warned that the penalties here are much more severe than in the uk, there is no slap on the wrist and confiscation of small quantities here. Being caught with even just enough for a few spliffs will result in charges of possession and importation which can get you some jail time and a five year ban from the island. The dogs are around for most ferry landings, particularly during TT fortnight. There's usually stuff to be had on the island but the quality is often poor and the prices scandalous.

As far as I know it's mostly easier to manufacture a giant cannon to fire blocks of weed into the island from the English coast than it is to get it there via. ferry thanks to the sniffer dogs. Laughing.

Take some over, get caught, then post an account of your time inside. Worth it to mong out for a few hours innit.

I would send the item by post to the place you are staying at, addressed to the name you will be giving to check in, which is that of bullshit.

Nothing will be worse than making the journey over only to be collared by a damned spaniel.

Sending gear to the island by post is just as risky as taking it on the boat. All mail coming into the island goes through one central sorting office which is scanned by the dogs every morning.

A few unrelated facts which you can make of what you will.

There are no sniffer dogs getting onto the ferry.

Car decks on ferries are busy places and nobody is interested in what you're up to.

It is not impossable to find a particular vehicle which you saw on the ferry once you're on the island, especially if it's signwritten or distinctive.

Rare earth magnets are small, strong and inexpensive.

Hah, i like that man. Those magnets will hold a shit load for their size. You can get very flat thin discs that could easily be wrapped is tape attached to a package. My only concern would be getting the bloody things off again without bursting the packet. God are they strong when stuck to a sheet of metal.

Going over to the island once we put a load of meat juices on the ass of a guys trousers while he was asleep. Yes there were sniffer dogs and they very much liked the smell of his ass Laughing

See my concern was getting on at Heysham, and I thought for that - wrap it up, stick it in me helmet. Dogs can't smell high places eh? This is my fifth trip over and as far as I can remember when you get to Douglas you just roll straight off the boat and onto the prom. Can't remember any customs or dogs walking around or whatever?

You'll be safe as houses when you couple that up with the fact they can't look up either.

Last time I went from Heysham, they were doing random stops and had dogs.

But I took some. It was heart in mouth stuff, and I wished I didn't have it, tbh.
