My wife has a Honda vision NE50 and it has been standing in the garage over the last 4 months during the bad weather..
Anyway l went out to start it up yestaday, it still had a bit of fuel in the tank and l added some more... than l kickstarted the bike which took about 10 trys before starting as l presume it was filling the carburettor back up.
So anyway it started and l revved it but everytime l released the thottle to tick over it just cuts out. ideas what be causing this and what l can do to sort it out as the missus wants to get back out on it now.. Thanks |

You could try turning up the idle with the idle screw for the time being, but I think you may need to take the carb off and clean it out, Blow out the Needle jet, pilot jet and main jet and clean the base of the carb, empty all fuel, rinse tank out and put new fuel in. | You are absolutely correct, l took of the carburettor tonight and took the base of the carb and there was a load of red sediment gathered in there. l wash this out with clean petrol .
l then took out the needle jet, and main jet , and float valve and washed the carb , l also washed the main jet and this was not blocked. l have no air pressure device so all l did was blow into the holes/jets.
l then put the carb back together and started the bike, this time it did tick over so l took it around the block and it was pulling back and slowing down then picked up and slowed down as l increased the throttle revs but ticked over .
Do you think there sediments back in the carb or more coming in from the tank..
Would l have to take the tank off to flush it out and what do l use and best methods to clean it out...
Also where is the pilot jet.. |

By putting a fuel filter in the fuel line will it be ok or could it affect the running of the moped..
Also what is can l use to flush the fuel tank out when l've taken it off.. |
Clean the fuel lines with some petrol, and then take a hold of one end and spin it around in the air for half a minute to get rid of most of the petrol, change ends and do the same. Then leave it to dry for a couple of minutes.
Clean the carburettor with some carburettor cleaner, making sure you clean the float bowl, main jet, pilot jet and idle jet. Also you can clean the choke with the carb cleaner as well.
With the fuel tank, you could put a bit of petrol in the tank and swish it around a bit then empty the contents into a bucket. But to be honest, you probablly wouldn't need to clean this as this is what the fuel filter is designed for.
If the fuel filter was not originally there, then I cannot say otherwise. But to be honest, it shouldn't affect it at all, should make you have less sediments in your carburettor. ____________________ Peugeot Speedfight 2 100 Prost, 01 Plate, 2000 model. |
