ive recently bought a bike off ebay, the listing and the v5 form say its a gs400 registered in 1999. the bike is on a J plate which should be 1992 and ive heard that they stopped making gs400's before 1990.

how can i tell if mine def is a gs400 and why would it be on a 1999 registered if they stopped making them in the early ninetys?

thanks

Hi

Assuming nothing dodgy my guess would be a Japanese market GS400 (ie, 400cc version of the GS500), imported to the UK in 1999 and given an age related plate.

All the best

Keith

^^^That^^^

My bike is an import - on the V5 it says the date of first registration in the UK (2001), but also says estimated date of manufacture (1997). I have the original German 'V5' anyway, so know its provenance.
