This is my first bike with a temperture gauge, but in traffic its always around 102 - 104 is this normal, as it feels hot and engine fan cuts in and out

thats about right on the high end of things, fan cutting in and out goes to show its working as it should. over 120 and your in trouble. over 108 - 110 and i would start worrying.

My suzuki SV was 102 in traffic!

My RR sits at 80c cruising in this weather, if i sit in traffic it'll quickly rise to 104 where the fan kicks in, then will bimble between 100 and 104, i've seen 106 but only briefly.

I have owned two Hornets and would say thats spot on and nothing to worry about.

If you have a radiator guard it makes them run slightly hotter as well.
