 |
|
Ok, girlfriends birthday is coming up and I know she is after a sat nav as she has recently bought a car, there are so many different sat navs out there, I have no idea what to look for.
Have a budget of £100 for this, as i'd like to get her other stuff aswell! ____________________ Speedshite 50cc > Honda XR125L > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 02 Honda Hornet > 05 Honda CG125 winter hack > 04 Kawasaki ER-5 > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > 05 Honda CBR600F > 01 Honda Hornet |

Those sat navs have hugely fluctuating prices. I bought mine for £60 and at the same time other sellers had them up for £300. The link in my original post doesn't work anymore but you just have to search ebay for the same kinda adverts. Try and buy from a UK seller for the extra security. Just search round for the same type. Bare in mind that some have differing processors/RAM and internal storage size.
No you don't have to update your maps with any satnav, you just have the option. The ones i'm talking about from ebay come with decent maps on already and i'm sure you could find updates for free from torrents etc. since they use iGo8 ____________________ 57 Huoniao HN125-8 - , 97 Kawasaki GPZ500S -

Another for garmin. I've used 4 different garmin units and have always found them easy to use, reliable and had no issues with them.
I have to use a tom tom for work, it has the sound turned off and I use a map book day to day. And my i-phone for specifics if i get stuck.
When I get my new car that has 2 12v sockets I'm going to get a garmin for directions to sit alongside the shite tom tom I have to have on.
The tom tom is slow, hard to work, and not at all intuitive. I'm on my second tom tom unit. After 6 months the batteries no longer hold charge. When I last dug out my first Garmin, it was 5 years old had spent 12 month in a box and the battery still had charge and it fired up!
We got my inlaws a Garmin 18 months ago, after they had used a tom tom and liked the idea. They love the Garmin, even though they originally wanted a tom tom as that is what they used before. We got them a Nuvi 265.

I find the Tomtom easy enough to use, but I prefer my current Garmin Nuvi. I like the way it shows your previous route through an area, very handy for me. I find the audio directions better too. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
