I know the main brands, Sartso and Draggin and really like the look of the Sartso ones, however whilst browsing I found these on ebay

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-BG-Cargo-Camo-Kevlar-Motorcycle-Jeans-CE-Armoured-/300518379610?pt=UK_Men_s_Trousers&var=&hash=item8bb3659fbe#ht_1413wt_814

They say they've more kevlar coverage plus the all important knee armour CE approved included. For only 60 quid I say, half the price of the Sartso's or Draggins?

So are they cheap for a reason ie shite or should I go ahead and get em? Not too sure about the differences in kevlar the companies use so I didn't wana just decide because of the sales/brand waffle they give

G bought some cheap ones, not sure if they are the same or not, but his tore in normal usage... without even crashing a bike in them.

If you do start looking at sartsos and draggins then Tot put up a good comparison review recently here.

I have been wearing Sartso's for a couple of years including crashing in them and apart from a 5p sized wear patch from hitting the ground (through the jeans not the kevlar) they have held up really well

If someone bought me a pair, I would definitely use them rather than jeans when it's too hot for my leathers or textiles. But they are usually not available in my size anyway, so I refuse to pay over the odds when I will have to have them altered to fit.

I wear them most the time, unless I have to comply with track day regs etc.

I prefer draggin' jeans, but also have red route.

I wear berik ones that the mother got me. Heard good this about hood jeans but they are made to measure. Everybody say mine look like normal jeans!

I wouldn't skimp out on bike gear. If you are willing to pay that much for legwear then go all the way and pay for proper stuff. Else even if you don't crash in them but they wear out like G's did above and you end up paying more in the end!

I've been wearing hood jeans on the bike for the last couple of years, and they weren't made to measure. Their sizing is quite generous. I've crashed in mine and the kevlar has done its job.

Was just getting off the bus so rushed what I had to say. I meant the leg length is measured. Mother didn't want to order them as the bloke at J&S said as it is classes as protection it couldn't be returned so mother paid like £40 extra to get Berik ones which aren't rated as highly. However, they do have nice embossed detail on the leg Laughing

I have some Ricca ones, Had them a few years now. Been looking for a pair for the girlfriend but as some comments on here point out the sizing of them is a pain.
we found you need to like 4 inches higher on the waist than normal trousers to even get a snug fit. so Im normally a 34/36 and these ricca ones are tight at 40 :S.
Other than that their great. Not good if your a weekend warrior or do long haul tours and stuff, Better invest in better protection for that, But for commuting there ideal.

+1 to Hood. Proper Kevlar throughout (not just on silly little patches) and don't fall apart. Supports knee and hip armour too.

Bear in mind that Hood, Sartso and Draggin use knitted kevlar which has some give in it and is more likely to hold up in a slide than the woven stuff used in cheaper brands. It's not that the fibres themselves will wear through, but the weave is more likely to tear apart.

I have a pair of Hoods and they are really only good for cold / average days. When the temperature gets up you get so hot in the flipping things.

Looking at the Sartsos at the moment as they look a bit more comfortable than the Hoods

The Hoods are still better than leathers by a long way.
