Is it worth it as a project.

Bike was brought by my brother some time ago to keep his NCB going, currently been sat in a garage for the past three years, no tax, no mot.

It was a runner when it was brought however it wont start now. Is it worth turning into a project or would it be better to sell it on as it is?? Believe its an import too if that makes any difference.

Whats it worth in its current state??

Value depends on the condition more than anything. Parts aren't exactly plentiful so if the bodywork and running gear are tatty, coupled with the lack of a running engine - you ain't looking at a lot.

In fact, I bet you'd get as much for the engine out of the frame as you would for the whole bike.

As with most older bikes like this, greatest profit will come from stripping it and selling parts, then selling 'as is' and then fixing it to sell in that order. Each case is different but generally speaking that's the best way to get maximum cash out of it.

Saying that, get some fresh petrol in it, charge the battery and see if it wants to start. It's 10 mins work to see if it'll run and will make a huge difference if you're looking to sell. If there's something more than that to it then probably not worth fixing unless it's for personal use. They're not particularly hard to work on and could be a nice little winter hack.
