HI can anyone tell me if i can fit my kmx with a cdi from another bike or does it have to be specific for a kmx125.
i need to replace my cdi tomorrow and was wondering wether i can get any 125cc cdi unit.
just fitted new piston and clean out engine after a breakdown and now i have no spark, tested cdi unit with a multi meter a it is reading off the scale.
also when my piston broke the spark plug melted causing the electrode to meet with the rest of the plug. could this of cause any other electrical damage as it seems to have killed my cdi unit???

You can use cdi from other bikes so long as they have the right timing/advance curve and stator out put specs,

It would be far easier to replace like for like though to be honest.

thanks for your reply.
after scouring the south with phone calls this morning i finally found cdi and coil for £55 including special delivery.
just so annoyed as i bought the bike 2 weeks ago and have only ridden it 10 miles.
fingers crossed it should be back on the road tomorrow.
