I'm considering a carb swap on my PC50... Dont get me wrong, I love the way it is as standard, but just a smidgin of extra pull would be helpful. Not only that, it would be nice to know what all this entails.

See, the engine normally sits at full whack constantly and is normally stuck for power at about 27mph, sometimes hits 32 on flat.
I know it's never going to be fast, and I'm not after it being quick, just slightly more tolerable =P

As far is I can gather, it's a 14mm keihin unit... but with it being from 1972, surely modern carburration is more efficient than the carbs of yesteryear?

So what would I need to do to figure out what carbs are a viable option?

inb4 get bigger bike
inb4 pass test CAUSE I'VE DONE IT Laughing

Anything off a 50cc pit bike should fit so long as the carb bolts are the same distance apart.

Fix the engine. Then decide.

Remember. Mopeds weren't restricted in 1973. At all. They were tuned for optimum performance.

EDIT: I also strongly suspect much more power than standard will make the clutch slip. As i've said before. My standard one would go off the top of the clock. You've been riding it with a broken piston ring.

EDIT2 : I doubt there is any significant difference between a 1970's kehin slide carb and a 1990's kehin slide carb. It's technology that has been well understood for a long time now.

the carb on his bike at the moment will be tiny(12/14mm), the one linked too is 19mm.. so should be good for a bit more top speed once tuned correctly.

Getting rid of the pea shooter exhaust should help too.
