Didn't complete my CBT last week, I was a mess in my slow speed stuff, and it snowballed from there, so was never going to be safe on the road.

A mate of mine has offered to come over with his bike, and we're going to find a car park or something to practise on. He has an ER6-f, so I ain't supposed to ride it anyways, but I won't be out of first gear he says, and he ain't too bothered if I drop it (he's a goodun), but I was wondering on the legallity of it, insurance wise.

If we are in a car park or something, does this constitute private land or whatever? If it's out the way, I won't be worried as much, but I'm racking my brain just now for something nearby.

I wouldnt recomend practicing slow stuff on anything other than a 125.

As for the question. Generally speaking a carpark is classed as private land. Council car parks are definately out of the question but the likes of Tesco or any business car park are private land. But dont quote me on that. Its always better to find out before hand.

But the public have access, so you require ins to be on there.

While the OP could risk it, if the police rolled up both he and the owner could be in trouble.

The wording is variously a road or other public place [..] a road or in a place to which the public have a right of access.

I think you'd be on a very sticky wicket trying to argue that a car park isn't a "public place".

Any car park where the public have access is classed as a public place. My advice is DON'T DO IT!! With society the way it is somebody is bound to call the police and then you have no licence, no insurance and your mate also commits the offence of permiting you to ride with no insurance & driving licence. 6 points at least on both licences and what ever fine the magistrates want.

If you've never ridden anything other than a 125 then the weight of the 600 with be a nasty suprise as will the power delivery if you make a mistake with your right wrist.

This is made of FAIL and do you think he won't care if you drop the bike, even a drop can cause 100's of damage.

I would just get more training and try and chill out, most slow speed problems come from being tense. Easy for me to say but just try and enjoy it.

Have to agree with the above, as tempting as it sounds don't risk it.
I failed my CBT and although I owned my 125 at the time and live next to a car park, I resisted cos the way I see it, I would rather wait and get legal than risk taking short cuts and getting banned before I start/end up shitting in a bag due to incompetance/ or in your case loose a friend and a shit load of money replacing his pride n joy.
CBT is the training you need, hence the title, so you dont need to train yourself in a pretty dangerous situation IMHO.(just realised i sound like my dad, fuck)
