Hi guys, seeking guidance, direction and general information regarding my NSR please. Broke the gear shift and got a new one, had trouble with that getting stuck and had to cut it off. While getting it off, I've done a lot of damage to the gear-shift spindle, and it now needs replacing.

Looked in the manual and as far as I can gather, it is possible to service/replace this area/part while the engine remains in the frame (Thank Jesus.)

As per instruction, I've done the following;

*Drained the transmission fluid.
**Drained the coolant and detached the radiator pipes.
***Detached the clutch cable from the top of the crank shaft.
****Detached the oil injection control (linked to throttle) and detached the cables hooked up to the oil tank.

I was unable to clamp the oil tube and so I had to empty it. I thought it was emptied and proceeded to open the crankshaft. When I did this, it basically dumped 2T oil all over the place, and so got inside the crankshaft casing and onto the white cogs.

I got the casing off and gave it a wipe inside where the oil was still sitting in places.

I didn't realise I'd have to remove the clutch to replace this part so I put the case back on and left it. In the manual it says that I need a 'clutch centre holder' before I remove the bolts, but I don't have one, and don't feel comfortable removing the clutch without it. As such, I've not been able to replace the gear-shift spindle.

On top of this, I've emptied the oil tank so it's bone-dry. Is there anything I need to do before I put more oil inside it?

Is there anything I can get to help me remove the clutch. I'm terrified I'm going to damage it beyond repair if I just take it off without doing exactly as the manual suggests.

Also, about the 2T oil in the crankshaft casing, should I clean that out with water and make sure there isn't a drop of it in there?

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I can give more information and/or pictures (tomorrow) if necessary.

Thanks

Anthony

You'll need one of these tools to remove the clutch on the NSR - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-NSR125-CLUTCH-NUT-REMOVAL-TOOL-NS125-NSR-125-hc-/300549221734?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item45fa212d66

You will have to bleed the 2 stroke oil pump if you have let it empty although it's only one bolt and is easy enough to do. Have you got the manual whick shows you the bleed bolt.

Don't let water anywhere near your engine, as long as there isn't loads i'd leave it there.

I've got the manual, it's the little gold bolt in the pump control I assume? I've decided not to mess with the clutch stuff, and just have a mechanic friend weld a gear shift onto the existing spindle. As a temporary solution. Need to re-attach and refill all the oil and such now.

Thanks for the info.
