decided to take a decent pic of my bros
got some new bar ends today aswell as the right hand one fell out (it weighs a fuck load poor cars behind me)
more telling
This is my 1989 honda bros 400 had it for 4 days now, passed full bike test and found this is quite suited to my license and my size + needs (none special)
Handles well can throw it into a corner or 2 and it sticks great.
bad points are the high mileage just over 60,000 miles and the paint on the tank is cracked and bubbled.
behind is my dads land rover defender 90/110 all hand painted with next to no miles on it that things a damn tank.

If you want to remain a 'cool' biker there is only 2 things you don't do,
1 Put farbon (fake carbon) on your bike.
2 Tuck your jeans/textiles into your boots. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

I loved my old Honda Bros...held the onsell price really well 4 years later, got mine fresh from the container from Box Hill Motorcycles way back when.
Was the bike I learnt my road-craft on. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Good looking bike you've got there I had one after passing my full test in 2008. If you're after some decent mods, I would recommend a Fuel exhaust can as these sound great and save a fair bit of weight over the standard can, braided brake line, and if you want to quicken the steering a bit then raise the forks through the yokes by about 15mm; that's how I had mine set up and I loved every minute of it, wouldn't mind having another if I had the money.
Also, for more mods and general servicing advice, check out www.hawkgtforum.com. The Hawk GT is the US version of the BROS but they're essentially the same bike. |

I do this when it's dry...find it slightly warmer.

I got bored of my standard exhaust...and the collector box decided to start sprouting holes. I was about to buy the Fuel off my friend's NTV650 when I saw a Yoshimura Stubby on ebay. Should be here by Monday at the latest. Might even replace my saggy old carb diaphragms and rejet it to suit...would be odd to have it idle properly and have choke jets that aren't blocked...
I guess my point is...they are great little bikes and will cope with whatever you throw at them (even 500 mile days for two up touring ). Enjoy! ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

I just bought my own, '90 mkII, first registered '98,
25,000 miles / 40,000km with 2 new tyres for £550.
Not too keen on the red paint
I've changed the oil, air and fuel filters. was running lovely.
Now its a pig to start >.<
Changed plugs, new battery (the old one wasnt even a year old..)
gonna take the fuel tank off and clean out the tap today |
Could also be the carbs being full of rubbish or the valve gaps being out.
I paid £330 for mine but the tyres were ancient and the brakes needed rebuilding amongst other things. It had been sat for about a decade. 25000km. '88 Mk1 registered '98. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

The fuel filter i changed asap, might be a matter of running it through.
I bought this to replace my CG125, mainly because I need something More powerful than that, but just as reliable.
Need to go guildford tonight, induction evening for the Bloodbikes! but it doesnt look like it will happen =[ |
Personally I'd just get it started with some redex or whatever and gun it for a few miles to help the blockage through the system. If it's a sudden thing then I doubt it's valve clearances. Premium fuel can also have additives which helps with carb cleaning. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

Wow! You are now my idol! What is the front end you have on the 400 from? Also, did you ever bother trying to tune a 400? Trying to work out, now I have a Yoshi can in the post, if it's worth rejetting the carb, getting pod air filters and chainging the gear ratios a bit so I'm not ragging it so much on the motorway. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed
