water in the cylinder barrel

hi i am re-building a tzr 125 and it has been let to sit for the last 9months i took the exhaust, cylinder head and cylinder barrel off and about a ltr or 2 of water has gushed out i see it has water down in the actual bottom end what could this be??? any ideals very very welcome scott

ok i have braught a full set of gaskets, is there anything else it could be?

Of course water is going to come out of the cylinder and head, its a watercooled engine and they both contain a waterjacket. Neutral

Did you drain the coolant before taking the head and barrel off?

What do you want to hear? There's a subspace wormhole inside the barrel, connected to the bottom of the Pacific?

The exact amount of water that was inside it is now outside it. Job done, have some Karma Thumbs Up

this is a very interesting theory you have put across but i just suspect i didnt drain it very well lol. now i have dried out the bottom end put new gaskets on filled bottom end with engine oil is there anything else i need to check b4 i try to run it up?

Don't.

You are aware that two stroke bikes don't run oil in the bottom end don't you? They only need gearbox oil, and they have a two stroke oil tank with an injector that injects oil into the engine along with the petrol. The oil is burned along with the petrol. If you run it up with oil in the bottom end you'll probably kill it.

When you say "filled the bottom end with engine oil", did you fill through the hole on the side of the engine?
As you can see from the gif below, a 2stroke "breaths" through the crank case so if its full of engine oil, its going to get pulled up into the head and as it doesnt compress so well will do bad things Confused

If you have put it in the right place, such as here:

Then you will be fine as that oil lubes up the gear box.

These engines also require 2 stroke oil that gets mixed with the fuel to lube the top end but i'm sure you knew that Smile
