engine numbers ??

sorry this is not a bike.

im going to look at a car that is cat c dameges so requires a vic check with vosa,the car has had a replacement engine and the new numbers havnt been sent to the dvla so wont match the v5/logbook will this cause problems with the vic at vosa ??

Whoever changed the engine the engine should have also notifified DVLA of the change. VOSA inspector won't be impressed that the details don't match when it's examined, whoever is having the check done should also have the receipt/proof of ownership of the replacement engine that has been fitted to smooth things out a bit, if not who knows Question
If you haven't bought it and are just "looking" at it what's the problem?, it's up to the current owner to sort it all out before you get involved with buying etc.

well the car is a cat c and needs fixing the seller is not the owner and only has a key and no paperwork as the v5 was sent to insurance. for me to vic the car i need to inform the dvla of the new engine numbers but unsure how to inform them is it done using the v5 or a seperate form ?

I wouldn't go there if I were you.

Look at the signs:

Seller isn't the owner.
No paperwork.
Numbers don't match.

At LEAST write down all the numbers and HPI check them, but if it were me I'd "steer" clear.
