I can't remember this being asked before... I'm interested in how many of us have an aftermarket end-can, and if so, how legal it is?

Race can - 'Not for Road use'

Full Scorpion/Lomas system on mine. Passed it's MOT with no worries, handy when you get on with the inspector, now all I need is a set of standard cans just incase Wink Infact all he did was take down the frame & reg # and say 'Does it run ok?' My obvious reply was 'Ofcourse!' and he handed me the certificate there & then Very Happy

Though I've had no issues with it to date *touch wood* as at low revs they sound no louder than any 2 stroke bike, but at high revs it screams - just like the good old days of 2 stroke GP Racing!! Crying or Very sad

On my current regular stead (that's rd, not 306 Rolling Eyes ) I have the Standard Yam cans, though I need to tighten them up, so they are a tad louder than they should be.

On the ZX9 I have a Full Akrapovic System, with a Seperate Micron Can designed to fit: the Micron has a 'BS' mark engraved in it.

The KR1s, seems to have Kawasaki cans, dunno if they're actual races ones, or have just had the baffling removed, however I can't see me getting away with taking it to any noise-restricted Tracks Sad.

I have a road legal can with a removable baffle. I leave the baffle in as its still quite loud. The fuelling needs to be adjusted the same amount for a race can so I imagine that its almost as free flowing as a race can. Is Hi level and about 10kg lighter than the standard can!!

Plus my bike has a very different sound to a lot of bikes. Its not a rumble like a V twin and not a whine like a four, so its kinda offensive to people without the baffle in. I love the sound without though, although I'm too self conscious of it when on the road.

Oh and I'm not sure there's a lot of point of a race can on a 400, because you can't exactly back off and ride on the torque of the bike when you need to be quiet etc...
I might be wrong though. Smile

A lovely Yoshimura RS-5 slip-on on my CBR. Gives a nice grumble at low revs, but turns into an evil-sounding GP-style whailing at high revs.

Mines an Art with 'Not Legal For Road Use' in huge letters. It sounds gorgeous, nice and growly for an inline 4.

I've never really had a problem with the noise - at low revs it's not *that* loud and I've ridden past plenty bored plod who don't seem even vaguely interested.

I have a Micron Carbon can, it doesn't say not for road use, but it also doesn't have the BS stamp on it (not sure if its been polished off though).

As far as I know, the exhaust on the AR is actually legal. It's a little micron one.

Surprised

My Termignonis are 'slightly' Rolling Eyes loud, and are stamped 'not for road use'. But being and underseat exhaust, they is no way on earth anyone could find the writing, unless they wanted to dismantle the rear end of my bike. Surprised

...To which if they did attempt to...i would kill them first anyway!! Twisted Evil

I just have an Akrapovic end can and if its good enough for top race teams...... Laughing . The 'NOT FOR ROAD USE' stamp has been polished out and it certainly isn't excessively loud, in fact its not much louder than the standard can at lower revs, but its volume increases at higher revs which is nice. Smile

The point? You must've heard a little V4 on full song before, sounds amazing. Then again, you are used to the unusual sound of your triple so you are excused. Razz

Well now you come to mention it my VFR did have a certain dodge viper-ness about it when you were above 10,000 rpm.

Saying that though its never going to be as good as the airbox growl and exhaust noise of a triple. Have you ever seen the beginning of the film "The Cannonball Run"? Well on there is a Lamorghini Countach. The sound which that car makes is the closest thing I have ever heard to my Triumph when you are caning it from first to second gear. Heaven. Smile

Mine's the same; it's very bass-ey below 10k but once it goes above it starts sounding like a Ferrari... very addictive Cool

Remus race can. Not for road use.

TL is coming with road legal cans (Quill T3's), but I plan on removing the baffles as it's a v-twin and is meant to be offensivly loud Twisted Evil

I've got a road legal Marshall 'deeptone' zaust. Never heard my bike with any other zaust so can't really compare. But as the name suggesters it has a deep tone at lower revs and makes a nice sound higher up the rev range.

I've got a noisy lid so wouldn't want anything louder at the moment.

Although my bike was probably louder than anyone else's on the forum before I realised I didn't have any zaust gaskets in. Embarassed Laughing

Mine isn't road legal that i know of but it doesn't say that it is or isn't on the can Confused

i'd still prefer a nice looking standard one because i think if anything the noise makes me ride faster

Hi

Standard cans on almost all the bikes, and road legal cans on the remainder. Not really keen on noisy exhausts.

Think it is a Motad Datum or Nexus and they are road legal.

All the best
