Ola' Smile

I passed my DAS in May and since then although I have a car have lived on a 2001 ER5 I bought at the time of passing.

Now I am happy with the ER5 and enjoyed doing it up into near mint condition. It became without realising a project that to be honest for what it is I have considerably over spent upon. Its still an ER5 when all is said and done. (but that's another story) I bought it originally as a stepping stone learning tool and as that has/is fantastic.

My plan was to ride it as this learning tool for 12 months. However as often happens we get tempted with fresh meat and are easily persuaded to depart from our pledge. Wink

This temptation is a 600 Hornet with 6K on the clock for a very attractive price from someone who needs to sell.

Now a 'blind man on a galloping horse' can see the Honda is a far superior machine but is it a logical next step up from the ER5 or shall I stick to my 12 month pledge to the ER5 then buy something really nice such as a Triumph street triple.?

Cheers, Nick

I'm in similar position, just purchased a fazer 600 & looking to sell on my ER5.

Yup, it has been a fantastic tool to learn on & if I had the option of keeping as well as another bike I wouldn't hesitate.

Go for that Hornet Thumbs Up

But, I'd say what ever in-line four would be great. I have never owned any thing else but in-line four and I even talked my mate into a in-line four. He had CB500 and he was like, it's the best thing, 2 cylinders, great sound, and so on. Then I forced him to just look at some in-line 4, he tried CBR900RR and now he says, there's nothing better than in-line four, twin cylinder bikes are out dated with unnecessary vibrations and he would never go back to twin. Thumbs Up Smile

If it is a good deal and you can afford it, yes. An ER5 is a commuting tool when all is said or done. A Hornet it a fun naked bike.

Any 600 will be a bit step up from a 500 twin and anyway, you can always trade in your Hornet for the Striple at a future date if you want to. The Hornet will have a better sell on value as well. Thumbs Up

Maybe a good 6 such as a hornet or a fazer perhaps? It depends on if you want to stick with the commuter type or a change to a sports tourer or super sports etc
