I use an ordinary 2 stroke engine oil from maxol garage for my nsr125.Is this ok to use or do i need a special 2 stroke like motul/castrol.the reoson i use the maxol 2 stroke is cause its nearest where i can get my hands on oil. Also the red light came on before to top up as i left too low.Can that be a big problem for me??

i'd reccommend using fully synthetic on the nsr. using cheapo 2 stroke oil won't really do it any good.

stick with using decent stuff like motul, castrol or mobil 1

Never leave the oil too low, it will no doubt screw up your engine.

I always make sure that i check my oil levels, and always fill it all the way to the top. The bike will also sound and run ALOT smoother with the oil filled up mate Thumbs Up

full synthetic for the 2t, or at the very least part synthetic. (but you can buy fully synthetic anywhere nowadays, so no reall excuse)
get the best you can affort Castrol TTS etc, your bike will thank you for it.

& for the gear box, light gear oil or 10w40 ordinary oil (it will be in the manual)
but i've used rockoil or putoline light gear oil in all my 2 strokes (rs's,mito's,nsr,ns,mtx,rg etc etc) & it lasts well, with no clutch slip.

cheers,
GAZ

I have always and will always run my NSR on Castrol TTS. It's quality oil and readily available. Halfords stock it all year round and theres always a Halfords near by. Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up no reason not to use this, yes its more expensive but its worth it in the end when your engine doesnt eat itself from being run on 2 stroke made out of the crap you find at the bottom of your local canal.
