Hi,

I had a bike around 10 years ago and am looking at getting back into biking, mainly for going to and from work.

I have a budget of around £2500 and would like a sporty number for commuting around 25 miles a day.

I've fancied a GSXR for quite some time, but didn't know whether this was a wise choice. The other bikes I've been looking at are CBR600/900 and ZX6R, all around 2002ish.

Any advice on what people think would be the best bike for me would be appreciated. I'm 6'2" medium build (don't want my knees up under my chin!).

Thanks in advance.

From experience the ZX6R in particular is quite a small bike for the taller rider. And I suspect most 600 sports bikes would be a similar size.
Probably best for you to try to find a dealership and get to sit on a few bikes to try them out for size and riding position. Thumbs Up

The bikes you noted are all decent sports bikes and fit the bit for a sports bike but are not designed as a commuter so maybe worth looking at some bikes that are more suited to commuting.

Something like the cbr600f is a good compromise or a gsx600f, thundercat 600. these types are bike while being sporty are more comfortable and easier to use daily.

You'd get a tidy, fairly low mileage late VFR750 or Early VFR800 for that.

Near sportsbike performance. Near touring bike comfort and practicality.

Certainly fast enough in comparison to most of the 600 supersports that have been mentioned.

Of course, I'm, biased because I have a VFR750, but that's why I chose it. I'm not going to choose myself a shit bike now am I?*

*Well, actually, that's not strictly true when you look at the Jawa and 350 bullet parked in my garage but the VFR is a good-un.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.
