Blowing exhaust

How serious is it?

I've got a Suzuki Bandit 600, and I've noticed that the exhaust is blowing where the downpipes join the link pipe (see below)

It's making the bike a bit juddery at low revs and there's an overall drop in power.

Is this something I need to get fixed ASAP, or can I wait a couple of weeks til payday, bearing in mind I use the bike on a daily basis?

Is it blowing from the joint? Or has the collector got a hole in it?

Collectors are well known for for rotting on bandits, and a bit of googling will find you replacements.

Probably be ok for a little while but I'd get on top of it sooner rather than later.

I had the same problem on a 04 reg. a couple of years ago.

After extensive research I reckoned the best option was to send it to Bandit Mania (https://www.banditmania.co.uk/exhaust_systems_&_cans.htm) to get repaired.

They did a great job, have a look at the pictures after repair:

Is your gasket screwed. I've been driving around with mine fo over a year now with no adverse effects. But i did get one of those squichy gauze gaskets from ebay, and the blowing is massively reduced.

I think it's blowing from the joint rather than the collector, but I'll have a proper look in a bit.

Dragstaar, I have no idea if the gasket is buggered. How do I tell?

As for sending it to banditmania, how long did they take? I need the bike to get to work, otherwise it's two trains to get there and I have to fork out at least a tenner for a cab home. That gets bloody expensive after a week working late shifts!

Gun gun, and a baked bean tin. If you're really chintzy, use hose clips to hold it on rather than garden wire.
