How hard is to break the CDI by drilling wrong?
Because I'm not sure is my CDI broken or not...
The drilling spot looks fine, but I asked one mechanic and he said there's some sensitive spot near where you need to drill the CDI.
Also he said that the drilling is maybe gone skew (not straight).
The spot where the CDI is drilled is correct, just wondering is there any vital things near the spot which could break the CDI?

Just asking is it that easy to break the CDI? Because to me it sounds just crazy.

Sorry for my shit english Confused

My bike is just fucked up, doesn't take revs more than 6000 rmp.
The mechanic said it could be that CDI box is drilled wrong..
The bike acts wierd..
1. Doesn't take revs more than 6000 rmp
2. Can use only 1st and 2nd gear

The guy said it could be CDI box..

The red triangle is ON which is EFI, but it's in every bike if the CDI is drilled..
Any suggests what should I do next?
Buy new box or try to find out what's wrong by trying to connect the bike to computer so they can find the problem?

Yes, thinking the same.
Can you tell me where is the sensor?
Also do you know is it possible to figure out malfunction code by connection bike to the computer even if the CDI box is drilled?

The RS has a part on the ecu?? that you need to "snap" unsure if its on the newer ones as well.

Hi

The cdi units on the previous shape RS125s were modified to remove a flat spot between 5k and 6k rpm. On these you dug a hole in a specific place to find a metal bridge on the circuit board and snapped this. This forced the cdi to use a better ignition map and remove the flat spot.

However if yours is one of the last shape RS125s then I have no idea if the same mod can be done (or if trying to do it will wreck something).

All the best

Keith

Now I get it thx.
My CDI box model is AC29, does it tell you something?
My bike doesn't take revs when it's on gear more than 6 k, could it be that CDI has to do something with it?

Hi

OK, that means it is the late shape 2 stroke with a very different ignition system.

The cdi on these is meant to be modified by drilling a small hole in one corner (not digging a big whole to find a bridge to break):-

I have no knowledge of this beyond what I found by Googling though I am afraid.

All the best

Hi

I would suspect then that it isn't the problem. The instructions seem far too vague if there is anything easily damaged there.

All the best

Keith
