Hi, new to this so here's my first silly question

I've recently cleaned out my fuel tank (long story) and have flushed through shed loads of petrol.

I have a new fuel filter seated under the airbox which is a nightmare to re-seat properly so i was wondering, would it be a big problem to run a second filter higher up the fuel line so that i could easily check to see if all the crud has been removed ???
Would it restrict it in anyway?? (its a paper type filter)

Thanks for the help

Depends on the bike. If its a low power/small bike you'll most likely be fine.

If its a more powerful machine it may not like it. You can always replace the fuel line and have just one filter in the easier to reach spot.

I've got 2 in line filters on my NSR due to rust in the tank at the mo and it runs fine with no difference to 1.

Thanks for that..its a ZX10. 22 year old and lovely on the outside but rust bucket inside the tank.
I tried the vinegar trick with some success at first but as I tried to dry it our started seeing flash rust appearing.
My latereal thinking kicked in (which always gets me inti trouble) so I poured a little bit of two stroke in as I thought it would coat the tank...
Again, all things good at first but I've now flushed it three times with petrol (££££££) and I'm still getting slithers of red 2 stroke.
I'm sure this won't hurt the engine but I'm positive that it will clog the carbs or block the paper filter as it trys to squeeeeeeze through

I wish I'd just bought one of those kits now rather than 30 bottles of Morrisons finest vinegar

Looking forward to the local youths chasing me for their fish supper when they smell me go by .. Smile

That's a big powerful bike- halfrauds do a very large in line paper filter that will do the trick on your bike. The small "bike" ones clog and strangle the motor.

I had the same issue on my old GPz1100S a few years back. Had a coarse gauze filter first(glass one with silver ends) then the big halfrauds paper can after, ran fine. The gauze filter could be stripped and cleaned out when too much gunk got in. The paper one kept the fine shite out.
