Hi guys,
After lubricating and adjusting the drive chain, I feel as though it needs replacing. There are parts of the chain feeling very tight and parts of it with too much slack. The last time this happened, I thought of lubricating the chain liberally may solve the problem. But it clearly hasn't.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Would it be better to sell the whole bike off and put some extra cash and buy a newer 2008 model? Or should I just buy a new chain and replace it myself.
Cheers

You're considering changing bikes because the chain needs replacing?

Just get a new chain and sprockets kit and fit it yourself. It's a pretty straightforward job.

If you get a chain with a split link you won't need a chain tool either but you will need to get the old chain off.

yes, as the drive chain costs approx £80. If I change the sprockets that almost £200 of expenditure.
Not sure what I should do.

That looks cool!

What do you think of the chain remover tool for my motorcycle here:

That looks like it's for push bikes - you'll want something a bit more heavy duty for that.

Got an angle grinder or a hacksaw?

umm, I think I have one in the shed somewhere.
But Im willing to spend a little extra on a proper chain removed tool. If you can recommend one, I'll buy it.

Cheers. Smile

It will bo OK and do the job but it might be worth spending a bit extra and getting a tool that will rivet the new chain as well if it is a soft type masterlink.
