Hi

Thinking of selling my Monster (don't think I can afford to race) but still want a track bike, with a touch more power, to learn all the tracks properly.

What would be your choice for a 'fun' bike?

Budget of 1.5k, ish.

pre injection R6.

Will have the most power for that money, handle the best, and have the best brakes. Spares and upgrades are cheap and readily available.

Early r6 is very good as stock.
For some other bikes (say zx6r of a similar year) I'd prefer there to be a few track focused tweaks.
I wouldn't go for less than power than this for trackdays ideally.

Basically, anything SRAD or better should do you fine - so buy on value.

I was looking at getting it, but don't have the fund available.

Its a steal for me as I don't have tyre warmers etc so overall the package was great value.

Hornet will be over long before I sell my wee duke.

Something like that R6 with the WOW's and Warmers seems ideal though. I'm in no mega rush. Thumbs Up

There are actually a few different bikes with WOW around that price. One ZX9R that is a little over budget, but it looks lovely. 151bhp at the crank i think?

yea mark it was on ebay, didnt sell as you can guess! Sad ive just put it back on.

Only selling cos my son just started racing in steelies and prefers the CBR so just after money to put into that bike for him. Shame really cos its a nice bike, and quick, well it was with Guy on it, he did the lap record, 1'39's. at caddy.

Hope to get about £1,200 for it.

this.

spent a day on a race prepped R6 and didnt get on with it at all. its very peaky, you have to rev the nuts off it to get anywhere, no midrange at all.

my CBR steelie trackbike is completely different. plenty of midrange and a smooth acceleration that i love.

a steelie is a great trackbike, solid in a tumble and plenty of cheap parts.

only cost me a few hundred quid to convert mine into a decent trackbike

If you're using the midrange, you're doing it wrong Razz.
