I cant get a bolt out of my eliminator, its a single 10 mil bolt holding the tank in place. it just keeps turning and turning, but dosent get any looser. i know i can drill it out, but i just wondered if anyone had another, less destructive method of removing the said bolt?

Thanks

Harry

Can you lever up under the bolt head whilst turning it? That often helps it to catch the thread and start undoing.

Although it seems counter-intuitive, try pushing the bolt down as you undo it if you don't have room to lever up. It can often have the same effect.

Not likely - pulling it up and turning often works, but pushing it down means you will be trying to pick up threads that will wind it back to where the bare section is.

Hazza - where exactly is this bolt? I've yet to see a fuel tank with a M10 bolt used anywhere in the mountings. Do you mean a M6 bolt (uses a 10mm spanner)?

It works, certainly more often than not, and I've seen a fair few effing bolts in my time Cool

Hi,

When i said 10 mil bolt, i was referring to the size of the bolt head, i.e the spanner size used to remove it. On the eliminator its in a real awkward place, at about a 35 degree angle pointing downwards. Ill take a picture to illustrate if i get time.

Thanks

Harry

If levering it hard upwards and undoing it isn't working then just drill/saw the head off. It is only a bolt, will cost you about 10p to replace it.

Bolt sizes are denominated by the thread diameter, not the spanner size. That is a 6mm bolt.
