I've just fitted some EBC HH rated pads to my bike prior to a trackday at Bedford Autodrome next saturday. I've heard mixed opinions on bedding in brakes and have previously just used them gently for a couple of hundred miles but I rarely use this bike on the road now so won't be doing that kind of mileage over this week.

What's the best way for me to bed in this set to make sure they're working reasonably well by saturday?

takes me about 2/3 laps to bed in brand new pads, same for tyres. Start progressive and work up, you can feel when they're biting at nearly 100% which is about 2/3 laps.

I was always told to use them fairly aggressively as gentle use can glaze the pads.
Accept you might not get 100% braking and you'll be fine - in my experience HH's will still give you enough power to stoppy from new with a decent braking system if you give it a decent tug.

As G says, HH's are ready to go straight from the packet.

Some of the carbon pads need a bit more thinking about, but the HH's don't! Smile

Thanks chaps...I think I'll just go with using them lightly-ish for a few laps. They already feel stronger than the pads they replaced so that's good enough for me.

Whats bedding them in just brake as normal, though ebc hh would glaze over after 2 meets on the r1.

Best pads i have used are performance friction, never had any fade in them at all yet, alot better than sbs but cost a fair bit more.

PF pads are the dogs - can't recommend highly enough for track use. However, they are NOT suitable for road bikes though. I presume the OPs bike is predominately for the road?

I have never bothered 'bedding' in pads I just use them the same as I would normally after a change I have never had a problem. Tyres I give about 15 miles before being aggressive with the throttle.

Yes, needs to be road legal/usable really although I rarely use it now since moving house and not commuting on it. I'm thinking of going down the dedicated trackbike route as I don't enjoy riding on the road much anymore but I'd need a van Confused

You could get PF pads and swap them in and out for trackdays - bet of both worlds!! Thumbs Up

I don't THINK PF pads would be illegal, but being carbon based they need the heat in them to work. Fine for on the track but commuting - not so much!

They also end up with a grey paste all over the discs when used in the wet!! Very Happy
