Hey guys so the other day I got offered really good price for my bike and next week I will be looking to buy a bike that I will use for 6 months before I get my full license (currently on a2) I found a nice 2006 sv650 in a dealer shop that's right next to where I live the bike is at 28k miles and I am looking at doing around 3-4K miles before I sell it in 6 months so it will be at around 32k miles. Question is I can get this bike for 1.9k gbp, will I be able to flip this bike for around this price when I am selling it? If not how much will I be looking at? Is it difficult to sell a bike with 32k miles? Or should I be looking for a lower mileage bike if I want to sell it in the future? Thanks for replies, hopefully this isn't the stupidest question in the world

2006 and 28k at £1900 is expensive you will lose money on that when you come to sell it.

You can pick up very clean much lower milage 04/05 bikes for around the £1500 mark and shouldn't lose anything. That's if you're prepared to buy privately.

If you buy from a dealer then it's very unlikely that you'd make your money back if you sold it tomorrow, yet alone in 6 months with an extra 4k on the clocks.

High mileage bikes will sell as easily as low mileage ones assuming it's priced correctly and accurately described. 28k on a ten year old bike isn't particularly high anyway.

I'm guessing the "really good price" you were offered for your bike was from a dealer?

Nope the really good price is private for my current bike which I bought for 2.2k and get to sell for 3k in a month which is quite alright
And do you think the sv650s 2006 at 28k miles is overpriced at 1.9k from dealer? How much do you recon it should be? I saw some other examples of same bike but they are all private and different mileages. It's the fully faired one btw

That means the buyer has got a month to realise that the price is far too high. Laughing

£1,575 for a 2006 SV650s that's got 29k on the clocks: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Light-Blue-Suzuki-SV650S-2007-New-Tyres-Crash-Bungs-Chain-FSH-Loved-/282202153925?hash=item41b48f23c5:g:H2QAAOSwknJX1bNZ

Here's some SV650s's that have sold for less than £1,900 https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Motorcycles-Scooters/422/i.html?_from=R40&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=&_udhi=1900&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_nkw=SV650s&_sop=16

Basically, £1,900 for a 2006 model with 28k on the clocks isn't anything special.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222272838485 I'd take that one even if it is 2 years older. Much more sensible price and almost half the mileage.

£1900 is far, far too much for a 10 year old SV650S.

This is the ceiling on private prices.

Is the buyer intending to send payment to you via Western Union or PayPal and then have their agent collect it? Thinking

You may want to Google for the content of your buyer's initial contact and see if they've use the exact same wording when offering to buy motorcycles, cars, jetskis and caravans.

Oh, it's a ropey ZXR400. I guess someone might be daft enough to pay that much for one (you jelly, CaNsA?), but don't make any plans until the cash is actually in your hand.

I'm close to selling my SV, not 100% sure yet but you can have it for £1400 if I do decide to sell it.

If you want to make a really bad decision you can have this monstrosity for a bargain £1600!

For some reason the SV really suffers from owners overinflating the asking price when it comes to selling time.
