 |
|
I'm considering replacing the standard forks on my Bandit for an alternative set of USD forks.
I seem to remember that GSXR 750 forks (amongst others?) can be used, but I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm if this is the case, and if so what year/model??
(Would this mean changing the front wheel too??)
I might also be tempted to replace the rear shock too if I can find a suitable direct replacement...

I had a Bandit 1200.
I ran GSXR750 (K1) forks on it. And a GSXR750 (K1) shock on it.
To run the GSXR shock, you need to remove your center stand.
Drill the captive nut out of the center stand mounting.
Then remove the shock linkage, flip it upside down, and mount it in the new, lower down mounting point where the center stand once was.
Then the shock will fit.
You will need to make longer dog-bones/linkage-rods to get the bike to the correct ride height.
As for the front. The B12 stem will simply press out of the standard bottom yoke, and press straight into the GSXR bottom yoke.
All you need to do, is have a shim made up which slots into the top yoke, to take up the excess gap around the stem bolt, as it's slightly narrower on the B12.
IIRC, it needs to have a wall thickness of 2mm.
This is the only picture I have of it:
