Nothing else to do living in Scotland (it's been raining for almost a month now) Good place to buy second hand bikes from - they're all sparkling!

erm, not very often. Generally keep it clean enough to not really need a polish. Polished my last bike probably twice in 2 years, polished this one once last week after a good wash and service. Keeping it clean and a general dust off with a microfibre cloth every now and then seems to keep it looking glitzy.

Don't think I would polish from what I've read, polish is quite abrasive to paintwork, so has the effect of sanding out peaks so make the paint look fresh, but decreases the longevity of the coating.

I wax regularly though, waxing fills in the pits but old paint can eventually look flat. Looks spot on so far though.

Never polished the CB, it gets a wipe over with an old T shirt and WD40 occasionally.

I polished the suzuki about 2 months ago, removed its winter protective coating but I think I've only ridden it about 3 or 4 times since. Because it's a Shiny Bike by nature I only tend to ride it on dry days anyway if possible, so it gets looked at after every ride and done if necessary.

The Zeph doesn't get polished. Every now and again I hose the worst of the grime off, wire-brush any bad rust, check to see if any obvious moving bits need lubeing and give it a good general squirt of WD40. The only bits I really "clean" are the screen and mirrors which get done sporadically with rainex. Embarassed

You see, I'd say the opposite - I never polish because it always rains here and you'd only get the crud back on it again quick-sharp. And when it's sunny enough to NOT get covered in road crud (like it was last month) it just gets covered in flies instead!

To answer the original question, I have polished my Enfield once in my 4yr ownership (and that was only the tank). Not polished any of my other bikes. Hose them down once a month when in use, bit of soap if there's lots of oil/crud around. CBA with all that polishing malarky!

Never polish, but I usually wash my bike as soon as is practicable after a ride, stops the bug guts ruining the paintwork. If the weather is nice and I've got the time, I'll give it a coat of wax afterwards.

This isn't going to be one of those threads where after a few posts the OP will change to title to "polishing your nob" instead of bike, is it?

Cos it would be funny if they did.

I'd certainly do that.

I cleaned my old fazer once. Then noticed it wasn't actually in bad nick, so I put it on ebay.

I'd rather ride it.

I like to take care of my bike, and cleaning it makes me feel that i do care for it

I never polished or washed my bike until recently. It's been stood in sea-air for a very long time so i had to wash it in order to define what was rust and what was crud. Unfortunately it was all rust Sad It's now in the process of being preserved in hammerite and won't be getting washed again unless it rains Smile

Ride my bike all the time monday to friday but I still like to clean and occasionally polish it at the weekend, I suppose out of sympathy for the poor thing!
Only recently bought some t-cut and pleased with the results, bike comes up sparkling and looks desirable once more instead of worn out faded and cruddy!
