I figured late last night that i would get up early today and take advantage of the quiet sunday roads,so...
I set the alarm for 5:45 and got up. I had a cup af tea and a smoke while i tried to figure out where to go.
I was going to take a ride round the Norfolk coast but at the last minute i decided to go to Donington and watch the classic bike racing. Flask made, some hastily scrawled directions taped to the petrol tank and a map thrown in my bag as an afterthought and off i go.
My first mistake was writing A1(M) on my notes instead of M1. Embarassed
I realised my mistake somewhere near Grantham,so cut across to Melton Mowbrey and then just headed for the East Midlands Airport.which is next door to Donington.
I got there later than i intended, but "never mind i'm hear at last".
No bike racing today, it was car racing.
"sod it,I'll nip down to Mallory and see what's on there". When i got there ,there was nothing on Sad
Sooo I rode home again,400 miles i did today. My head is buzzing,My arse is aching and for an hour after i got home i kept wondering if i was in top gear! Whiteline fever.
The Classic Bike racing is tomorow.
I know it's a cool story, but has anybody else ever done anything so stupid?
Still it was good to be out on the bike and i enjoyed myself anyway Cool

When I first got the VF-Thou.
Went & collected it on the Saturday. Rode (gingerly) home from Stoke via my mum's in Stafford, to Stratford.
I had, since I was due some leave, booked two days off work, just to go ride.... so Sunday.... woke up, looked out the window, and thought "Where shall I go?"
SOUTH I thought.... so I got the bike started, let it warm up, got suited and rode West.....
Then I turned soutwest, not REALLY with any plan in mind.
Saw a hoarding at the side of the road for 'Wookie Hole', thought 'Never been there, wonder what its like' so did.
They wanted some extortionate price to get in, so thought the better of it, went back to the bike, and promptly fell off.... Ah! yes take disc lock off!
VF one-thousands ARE as heavy as they sound..... ESPECIALLY when you are lying UNDER one!
Got it back on its wheels, dusted off my leathers, rode out of carpark.... where to next.... 'Glastonbury' was marked on the first road sign I saw, so thought 'why not'.
Went and looked round the abbey, rode up to the tor, had an icecream, walked up to the tower, cam back to bike.... REMOVED DISC LOCK!
"Where to now?" I mulled.... Well, thunks I, 'done' glastonbury, why not go finish the day off, and watch the Sun Set over Stone Henge.... BUT me thinks.... not too certain of the headlamp on this thing..... 'better get back by dark'... saddled up and rode off in the direction of Wiltshire.
Ran out of petrol!
WHAT!
CANT have! I know these things are THIRSTY, but STILL!
checked the oddo, and I had done nearly 300miles....
5 gallon tank, that meant I'd been averageing just over 50 per... felt better but.....
VF-Thousands are EVEN FUCKING HEAVIER when you are pushing them to a petrol station!
After about a MILE, I stopped for a fag.... looked around.... NOTHING.... ANYWHERE to be seen but fields of yellow oil seed rape! "Hang on! I haven't switched the tap properly to 'Res'......
Motor fired on the second prod..... Doh!
So, off to Stone henge, via first available petrol station we went!
All fenced off, by English Heritage when I got there, and a load of protesters milling about, and American tourists being taken in in trailers!?!?!?!
I rode round it.
Found somewhere to the North East to watch the sun set.... got my camera out.......
Took photo's........
The Sun Set.....
Right..... time for home!
SHIT! It's DARK!
Doh! Yeah! it would be.... I've just watched the sun set!
You know..... the 6v headlamp on my DT50 moped was brighter than the glow worm in a jar on THAT thing!
It took a LONG time to get home!
Fun though.......

Forgot where I lived once. Forgot that I had moved the week before, and rode my bike to the old house.
