hey Keith,

doesnt really matter and tbh i was hoping there might be owners of both the earlier model and the 93 (94??) onwards one,

what im after is things like fork length, wheel/tyre sizes, swing arm length etc,

i want to up-grade my wobbly Z but i dont want to modify the bike in any way that it couldnt be put back to standard if nec.... or if they become extremely valuable Laughing
alot of the boys that race these old things use the early 38mm forks as the rules allow them, but i want to use the complete front and rear ends if poss,
i know the fazer 600 and later fzr600 use the same size swingarm spindle but i dont know how long the forks are so i might need to use a combo of early front end, later back end.............to keep it as simple as poss Confused

cheers chris

Hi

I have a 3HE one so I will try and remember to measure some bits tomorrow for you. Forks poke out of the top of the yoke (for the clip ons) so length might not be a major issue but you will need far stronger springs.

Yamaha are pretty good at keeping things fairly interchangeable between models.

One point is that the rear wheel on the FZR 3HE is fairly skinny and 18", and tyres are VERY limited (ie, Bridgestone is the only choice with a decent speed rating). Later one with the 17" wheel might be a better choice.

All the ebst

Keith

thanks Keith, that'd be ace Cool

i know the earlier forks are about the right length - well, with the Z springs fitted they are Laughing

and the 18" tyre thing is what im trying to avoid, my z uses 18's front and rear and the choice of tyres is a tad limited

thanks again mate Smile

Hi

Forgot suggests more organisation than I manage.

Just measured a few things up and trying to upload the pictures.

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/FzrBits/

Excuse the bike being very dirty.

The pic at the wheel spindle is measured from the top of the fork.

The separate swinging arm is a spare which I bought on the basis it was an FZR600 one. Started to clean it up but realised it was different to the one on the bike. However hopefully OK for some dimensions.

All the best

Keith

Hi

No problems.

If you want any specific measurements then let me know and I will try and get them

Pics are still uploading by the way (internet isn't exactly fast around here).

All the best

Keith

thanks bud, thats a great help Cool

do you know what that swingers off ?? is it just a later model ??
it's be easy to modify for twin shocks being steel and its bang on for length and looks just a tad narrower than the Z so it all looks (nearly) straight forward

happy days Smile

Hi

Not sure. Bought it from an autojumble I think as an FZR600 arm, but it is simpler than the one on the bike. It is box section steel bent to shape while the one on the bike seems to be fabricated with a slightly more ornate shape. Might be from an earlier FZR600 (or possible mine has a later arm in it I suppose).

All the best

Keith
