Well just a quick photo dump to show you guys my cheapo homemade ammo tin panniers

Knocked up some mounting brakets, bolted the boxes to the top box frame (bolted and welded to the sub frame), boshed through some stainless threaded bar full length between the boxes to support them and stop them wanting to fold into eachother, wacked on some stainless brackets from the front of the boxes to the pillion footrests, slapped on some hammerite so that the border police on the continent didnt think we were carrying live ammunition, made a plastic plate to mount an auxillary rear light and numberplate, drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the boxes to mount aux indicators, jobs a goodun'

Now, many people have said these sorts of things are too heavy and what not but they really arent and for the 24 quid for the boxes to be delivered and some shit I had lying around at home I think they are perfect!

I'd just like to point out that they are not removable (quick release etc) I have made them semi permanent so that they stay on the bike for our 2 week jaunt around europe then it can all be taken off afterwards.

Just don't forget they're on and start filtering through gaps. I bet they'd make some lovely scrapes down doors and the like.

Joking aside that's not a bad idea, at least some reflective tape on the corners, or some knob end will end up getting too close at night & clipping them.

I'd personally put some side lights on the front and back of the boxes.

Points to you sir, indeed pooperdream light.

I had it fully loaded the other day and there is something strangely nice and satisfying about the extra weight, cant explain it but it deffinately doesnt feel bad at all.

As for the width, if i stick my knees out at a wider angle then they stick out about as far as the boxes. Ive been filtering to work as usual this week using my knees to guage the space Razz

I am going to put on some reflective stickers/tape along with a GB sticker on the back so should all be good!
