Hi,
Went out to my SH this morning and it wouldnt start. Its been stood for about 4days without use. It cranked over just fine on the starter but wasnt firing atall.
Popped the spark plug out which was a good colour and sparking as good as ever (not fantastic, but consistantly ok)
Next step was fuel, i unscrewed the drain for the float chamber and nothing came out. Whipped the vacuum pipe off at the carb and sucked the diaphram open to re-fill the carb. It fired up and run lovely.
Where is the fuel going when i leave it parked? Its not leaking out from the carb, theres no signs of leaks from anywhere? Is it anything to worry about?
EDIT: I have replaced all the pipes for the auto choke and fuel, including the vacuum pipe.

Could just be evaporation in that hot spell. There are only two options really though, it either evaporated or leaked out. If it's not leaking, it must be the evaporation.
Some bikes seem more prone to evaporation than others. My old Russian bike didn't have a vacuum tap so as the fuel evaporated from the carb, more would run in out of the tank. It could empty the tank over a copule of hot days if you left it parked up with the fuel on.
If there's vacuum at the vacuum hose, the carb SHOULD have primed itself eventually as you cranked it over.
You could check the fuel tap function by detaching the fuel line, cranking it over and seeing if fuel runs out as you do so.
Some bikes do take a long time to prime an empty carb on the starter though. Yamaha Diversions are notorious for this. They can flatten the battery on the starter before enough fuel has run through to start them if you go onto reserve and don't catch it "on the fly". ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
