was out with instructor yesterday and had a bit of a scary moment going round a 2 lane roundabout in the right lane and hit a diesel spill causing the back wheel to completely lose grip. went completely sideways with a rather large truck in the lane next to me but managed to keep it upright and not come off.

Instructor said it looked very impressive and speedway must be my second calling lol.

but it has shaken me a bit going into roundabouts now

Happened twice to me in lessons and then in the test, all after riding through a diesel pond and doing a corner after it...did you ease off on the power when you felt it go? I did with mine, it quickly snapped the bike straight back up thankfully.

For this reason I never position myself next to a HGV or Bus on a roundabout in the wet or dry if I can help it. It's all about minimising the risks and those 44 ton wheels will do a lot of damage.

Well done for keeping it upright!

I'm sick to death of seeing diesel / oil spilled ALL OVER EVERY FUCKING ROAD every time it's wet. The only accident I've ever had on the bike was slipping on a shit load of diesel on a roundabout (and i've ridden over ice through the winter). I think artics and commercial vehicles etc. should be MOT'd more thoroughly and more often. Diesel will be the end of me one day... Evil or Very Mad
