I'm new here and just thought i'd say hello.
I'm a 45 yr young lol returner to the bike scene, haven't ridden for over 20yrs and even when I was riding it wasn't on anything bigger than a cg125.
Booked my CBT yesterday,so that's on Sat 4th June.
I was going to just buy a 125 after that, but the instructor i'm doing the course with has suggested I don't waste my money. depending on how I do with the CBT he's going to let me ride his CB500 on his training with the thought of going straight for the direct access.
Bit nervous about jumping straight on a 500 after just the cbt.
But I'll give it a go. Shocked
regards
Mick

Hey there,
I have to say, having just started my DAS after being on125's for a fair while, if your put on anything like an ER5, you will be just fine Smile
They are actually easier to ride than the 125's, although heavier you shouldnt really feel it much and when riding the bike its far more stable and easier to control.

Dont be nervous about it, just relax and gow ith what instructor says Wink

He's not going to put you on a 500 if he isnt confident that you cant handle it and I'v found the biggest limitaton to my abilities comes in the form of me doubting my own abilities.

Best regards

Provided the idea of clutch and throttle control isn't alien to you, you'll be fine. Just remember that bikes tend to 'go' a bit better than your average family car.

I did the DAS, and it was fine for me. First time I tried doing it, some years ago, was with a really crap school, and I managed to bunnyhop an SR125, which in retrospect, was quite the achievement.

Good call. I do this still, get the odd lesson or observed ride, from better riders in my bike club. Always room to improve. Thumbs Up

About six years ago now, I had a five year gap from bikes, got married and we just couldn't afford to runa vehicle. So I got back on a 125 for a few months before I jumped on a bigger bike again, and got an instructor to follow me for a couple of hours and asses me.

I refused to ride the SR, and requested the CG instead. Cool (it was too low for me anyway)

I did my cbt on a er5 after a 20 year break from riding. The first 10 minutes were ummmm... entertaining.
