Not earth shattering news, just an update on what's going on over at the DSA / DfT:

Arrow There are ongoing reviews of the CBT syllabus, continuing into next year. This is significant mostly because it implies that the CBT and thus L riding are likely intended to be retained into the 3rd Directive regime.[1]

Arrow Currently trialling changes to Mod 1. No details on what changes, and the fact that it's happening at all implies that the separate Mod 1 is likely to be retained. The DSA are looking for more "casual" Mod 1 test sites. Reading between the lines, we might infer smaller test sites without a controlled surface, therefore no revvy, swervy, stoppy stuff in Mod 1 in future.[2]

Arrow Recruiting 50 "new" bike examiners nationally. 12 car examiners have already been cross-trained. "looking at radical changes on recruiting and training examiners specifically for bike testing". Oooh, mysterious.[2]

Not a squeak about the 3rd Directive, as usual. I'm sure they'll muddle through, chin up, it'll be all right on the night, and so on.
