Bought a Two Brothers can off a 650 bandit for a fairly cheap price, I thought it was a slip on but it's not, it's a bolt on
I could get away with using the can and link pipe but the diameter of the link pipe that connects to the rest of my exhaust is about 4mm too wide, can you get anything to reduce this?
Also, the CBR link pipe has a centre stand stopper welded to it, would it be difficult to get a new one welded to the new pipe?

Is it the standard can on the CBR atm or an aftermarket one with separate link pipe?
If it is an aftermarket can currently on there then you can get slipon-bolt on adaptors so you can use your old link pipe.
If it is the original can then you can get pipe reducers for the new link pipe to make it fit. You can get a tab welded on to the link pipe but it might be a PITA to get done - in which case just remove the centre stand, if it is the CBR600 then the centre stand is really low and risks grounding out when cornering hard anyway. You can always refit it if you need to do work on it or use a paddock stand.
Does the bandit link pipe fit the bike, not size wise but the way it routes between the downpipes and the exhaust bracket, if it doesnt route well then you can't use it without more fabrication/expense.
Example of a pipe reducer (measure your link pipe and downpipes and find one on eBay in stainless that will fit):

Another more crafty option is to chop the standard can at the link pipe and use a slip on- bolt on adaptor to make the new pipe fit, you would keep the stand tab then and used OEM cans go for peanuts on gaybay.
Finally, you can buy a different sized bolt on link pipe made for the CBR with a centre stand, this is the most expensive but cleanest option. |
