hi guys I have a few problems with my 1987 Honda CB350S-G the head gasket sprang a leak a few months back and I went to fix it n snapped a few head bolts whilst trying to undo them and re-tighten them back to there proper torques whilst trying to pull the heads and barrels after doing this (trying to retrieve the snapped studs to replace them) i found that they wouldnt budge ive tryed alot of things (shocking it free.... didnt work, leavering it... didnt work no room to put any thing underneath, so im considering in an engine swap (CB350s engines are hard to get hold of in the uk and so are the CB450S engines, same frame and engine with a bigger displacement) i just wondered what would slot straight in as GPZ500S engines look ever so similar i just dont know any dimensions Confused help please Sad

Heat gun might help, I've used a blow torch in the past on rebuilds to free stuck bolts, don't recommend it though...things tend to melt and paint strips xD

probably find a CB400N superdream engine fits if you can find one, when my CB350S blew I used the CB250/400N haynes manual to assist with the rebuild

Many parts may well have been discontinued, i tried to get a gasket once and was told they no longer sold it!

Finding a cb 450s engine is a no go haha! Dont think that bike was ever sold in this country Laughing A while back there were quite a few 350 engines on ebay, maybe just keep looking. superdream engines are similar so could be do-able Wink

Good luck anyways mate Thumbs Up

Hi

CB250N / 400N, and CB450DX engines should be fairly easy fits. Probably some older 250 twins as well but likely be harder to find in usable condition.

Suspect anything else would be a nightmare. GPZ500 engine mounts are quite different, added to which is liquid cooled which would mean sourcing and mounting a radiator.

All the best

Keith

mmn i was thinking along the lines of an upgrade engine u know make the bike a bit better seeing as the engine has gone lol and yeah i could take it to a bike shop or an engineering place but wouldn't be worth doing as it would be expensive i mean i did have a custom straight through exhaust on the bike before its engine gave up sounded really nice (feked.com megaphone welded to a spare motad replacement silencer i got off ebay... also gave the bike more torque Razz) superdream engines are ultra reliable i know but there hardly fast machines as they are so u get the idea haha was thinking at one point a carbed SV650 (btw i wouldnt be too fussed bout rad mounts there not to hard to make, and seeing the cb350s has a oil cooler kinda makes sense Razz)
