Roughly what's the mileage I can expect to get from ten inch scooter tyres?

Depends on many things.

Type of tyre, type of scoot, how you ride it, weather, blah blah blah

But you can roughly estimate it at half as much again 50% through their life.

It's a Yamaha Vity, 110kg, 30 miles daily London commute, I tend to ride smoothly, but It's still a fairly hard life for the tyres with the enevitable stop start riding.

So many factors that can make a difference, I would expect 4-8000 miles from a set. Thats 1 or 2 years on 30 miles a day.

Scooter tyres are dirt cheap, so it shouldn't really matter. I expect you'll get through front brake pads far more quickly, I got through a (cheap) set in about 1000 miles on my old CB500.

Brake pads, not tyres.

Would that not seriously affect the handling and ride quality of the bike if you use brake pads instead of tyres?
