Hi guys,

My tickover is really low on startup even in this hot weather, it's fine with choke but with no choke or throttle the engine will sit at about 750rpm for about 10 seconds and then cut out if it's left to idle.

The simple solution would be to up the tickover but once the bike is warmed up it ticks over at the perfect RPM.

Surely the bike shouldn't need choke in the middle of June?

Any ideas/suggestions?

Remember that 20 degrees is still cold considering the engine likes to operate at 70-80 degrees c.

Just use the choke. Some bikes need it in summer, some don't. My CBR always needs it to start, just I can knock it off more quickly in the summer.

Of course it needs choke, the engine is still cold, the fuel won't vaporise effectively and it won't run (as you discovered).

The art of the choke is sadly being lost in these days of fuel injection. People just don't know what it is and how it works.

All sounds normal to me.

Ok fair enough, just figured as the weather got nicer it wouldn't need it so much.

Reassuring to know Thumbs Up
