Hey fellas
Got a problem starting my missus's 125. She left it sat for a couple of months, went to start it and got the trying to turn over for a second then click click click.... Assumed the battery had gone dead, so charged it up and the same again......tries to turn over (albeit slowly) for a couple of seconds, then the usual click click click
Thought the battery was buggered, so brought another one and charged it properly. But guess what ?! Tries to turn over for a couple of seconds, and then just the clicks. It will only try to turn over on the first attempt, then whenever you try, you just get the solenoid clicking.
Any thoughts ?

Not tried bumping it yet. Nowt wrong with the battery.....tried charging the old one, didnt work. Got a new one, fully charged.....still didnt work
Im guessing it could be a problem with the starter ? Wouldnt know what to check though ? ____________________ Bikes had : BMW F650, suzuki tr50, gt125, SV400, GSXR600 SRAD. hi mate
same thing on my cg 125 new battery and just click click
take the starter motor off its only bolts then there should be 2 long thin bolts going from one end holding it together.
remove the back watching the o ring on the outer housing and
have a look at the brushes should be 2 mine looked ok but there
was no play in the brushes it should push in on a spring to keep it in contact with the copper internals on the starter if you have some spring give it a good clean with some eletric cleaner and rebuild it just make sure you take care with the brushes when refitting the back of the starter.
also there is some good videos showing it on youtube
good luck
and the it cost me £30 for a full set of brushes from honda. |
